Coach Riley has an extensive background both as an athlete and coach. Prior to coaching, Ryan was an All-ACC selection and team captain of a Clemson University baseball team that was ranked #1 in the country. He then went on to play multiple years of professional baseball with the Tampa Bay Rays.
After his playing career, he coached baseball at East Carolina University while earning the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He’s also studied Muscle Activation Technique, Functional Movement Screen, Athletes Performance methodology, and Precision Nutrition Certification.
Ryan has worked with thousands of athletes and clients of all abilities. Ranging from middle school students to professional athletes in multiple sports, his experience, education, and athletic background enable him to implement the highest standards of sports specific training and injury prevention practices. Ryan has served as the strength and conditioning coach for his Alma mater, Seattle Prep High School and as an Assistant Strength Coach for the East Carolina Pirates baseball team, overseeing the strength development and speed and conditioning of the athletes.
Coach Riley trained for a number of years as a personal trainer at your typical “big box” health clubs, prior to starting Riley Athletics in 2007 with a few personal training clients, high school and professional athletes. Coach Riley has trained everywhere from high school weight rooms, public parks, and out of his home gym. Today Riley Athletics’ home, aka “The Rock,” is a 4,000 sq ft functional training facility that creates an awesome environment to get results. With all the training tools and wide open floor space, including 2,500 sq ft of field turf, our facility was built with improved performance, in sport and life, ultimately creating a higher performing life in everything you do!
